Full Job Description
We are currently expanding our team and are looking for an Equipment Engineer. Your primary role will be to manage projects for the design and specification of products, installation, and start-up of new plant equipment. You will also be responsible for providing guidance, and support for the design, making improvements, and modifications of existing plant equipment.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Manage equipment projects from initiation to close
- Work with engineers to develop designs and/or specifications for new equipment
- Determine facilities requirements for new equipment and either align with current or determine modifications/additions
- Write detailed scope of works for project quotation phase
- Create goals, deliverables, budget, and timing
- Prepare Appropriation Requests and justification for capital purchases
- Effectively manage project scope and changes
- Communicate project milestones to team members
- Ensure equipment receivers are fully informed and involved
- Ensure maintenance practices meet requirements
- Provide supervision of trades and/or outside contractors on project and equipment-related tasks
- Review and update documentation and drawings to “as-built” status
- Research and recommend the purchase of new equipment that offers increased production or improved yields
- Suggest modification of existing equipment to increase productivity and reliability
- Assist with troubleshooting problematic equipment and offer solutions
- Pursue equipment safety projects
- Lead/facilitate Process Hazards Analysis reviews of new equipment and implement suggestions agreed upon by the team
- Identify cost reduction opportunities via equipment modification and/or the introduction of new technology
- Perform capacity analysis based on equipment throughput and recommend opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with other departments to achieve goals
- Other tasks as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of work experience
- Proficiency in SolidWorks
- Experience managing projects for manufacturing line equipment, both new and existing
- Experience working on equipment upgrades and new equipment
- Experience developing equipment specifications
- Experience generating and managing capital equipment budgets
- General knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and PLCs
- Experience analyzing the capacity of new and existing equipment and processes
- Computer skills in Microsoft Windows-based applications such as MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Experience using MS Project or equivalent
- Team-oriented individual with good communication skills
- Demonstrated personal responsibility and dependability
Working Conditions:
- Mechanical noise
- Dusty and dirty work environment due to materials and raw materials
- Varying temperatures from warm to cool
- Office work sitting at a desk working on a computer
- Exposure to chemicals
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting for extended periods of time working on a computer frequently
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry 25 pounds on occasion
- Standing for extended periods of time on occasion
- Walking, stooping, bending, crouching, twisting, climbing, and kneeling
